About

illustrator and educator

Kara Bass has a diverse art background, studying Fine Art at Chapman University and transferring to University of Silicon Valley, where she graduated with a degree in Digital Arts and Animation. Kara’s primary area of skill is in storyboarding and concept design, with experience in commercials, animated logos, and animated short films. Since graduating, Kara has been tutoring children of all ages between kindergarten and 12th grade in a variety of subjects, with special regard to learning disabilities such as dyslexia, autism, and ADHD. She is now combining her love for art and teaching by illustrating children’s books!

Creativity and a drive for learning is what drives Kara forward in life, especially learning about different people. When Kara isn’t sketching on her tablet or in a sketchbook, she loves to read about cultures and practices from around the world, along with cooking food from those same cultures. Kara is based in the Bay Area which makes the quest for diverse learning a lot easier; as well as being immersed in the Bay Area hip hop culture where she even got to perform halftime for the Golden State Warriors! Kara hopes that wherever her art journey takes her, her work will help people of all different walks of life feel seen and understood.
